TED BOYKO HISTORY
In 1974, while still in high school, Ted took a job at Hacienda Honda in Rolling Heights, California.
This is where he began his career in building motors, working for the PK Racing XR75 motocross team.
By 1975 Ted was ready for his next big step, opening his own shop with fellow PK Racing mechanic Larry King.
At Vulcan Cycle Works, Ted’s his skills continued to grow, with the shop turning out some of the fastest Honda XR75s of the time.
After Vulcan, Ted further honed his craft, literally and figuratively when he ported cylinders under the guidance of two-stroke tuning guru Ted Moorewood for the famous Myerscough Machines Race Shop.
In 1977, Ted went to work as mechanic on the DG Minicycle team for riders Chris Heisser, Paul Emerson, Ted Brady and Gary Dirks. This team dominated the Minbike circuit for years.
While at DG, Ted starting riding JetSkis for fun, but soon saw an opportunity to modify and sell high-performance parts for watercraft.
This is where Boyko Racing got its start as one of the first companies tuning JetSkis.
Boyko Racing was too early in the watercraft business, so Ted closed it and went on the road as mechanic for AMA motocross racers Gary Semics and Chris Heisser.
Back from the MX nationals, Ted was hired at Dallas Baker’s Pro-Tec, another top race shop. Again, learning more and more.
In 2009, Ted revived Boyko Racing, this time with a full machine shop that allows him to build fast, reliable 2- and 4-stoke motors,
tackling all aspects of a rebuild, from porting to boring to cylinder-head mods to crankshaft rebuilds to full engine overhauls.
So, almost 50 years after he started in the business, Ted Boyko has experience, knowledge and talent that few can match.
This is why so many clients seek out Boyko Racing for all their engine work.
“ The Flying Machine Factory has had a long standing relationship with Boyko Racing that spans over the years.
This industry was built on passion and we pride ourselves in working with great companies for nearly 50 years such as Ted and Boyko Racing.
Performance runs in our veins and we cherish the friendship that this sport has given us.”

When we needed more horsepower for my ’87 RM 125 we looked no further than Boyko Racing.
Teddy’s decades of experience with 2-stroke motors made him our only choice.
